Thuringia, for example, was a stronghold of the Nazi party - it was the first German state (Land) where a Nazi (Wilhelm Frick) became a minister. Today it is also a stronghold of the most radical, racist and anti-Semitic #AfD politicians.
I’d just like to state for the record that we’re not too far removed from a time when it would be expected for a politician to issue a statement distancing themselves from this.
