Immigration attorney/advocate. Open borders. Abolish ICE. Defund the police. No political party will save you. A better world is possible. Excuse the typos. I’m angry.

I will keep repeating this until the day I die because I have no other way of processing the anger and trauma. Obama opened Dilley. Obama ramped up family detention at Berks and, also, Karnes. Children under his watch were suicidal. At Berks, the mothers called a certain meal "monkey meat." ...

Trauma clinician here. Even if those kids are released tomorrow they will never be fully released from the trauma of their incarceration. They may leave Dilley, but they will never completely leave Dilley behind them. The impact is forever. That is what our government chooses to do to children.

The first layoffs will be announced today in the organization I work for that subcontracted under Acacia to provide rep for hundreds of kids in local shelters, including a 6-year-old I met with the other day with a smile as bright as the sun, who took pride in showing me his one-handed push-ups.

"[T]here have been [over 200] death row exonerations nationally ... 68% of people sentenced to death in the state are people of color, and 90% of 18- to 20-year-olds who received death sentences were people of color. Individuals are 80% more likely to be sentenced to death if the victim was white."

During his time on death row in California, before he was found innocent and exonerated, Shujaa Graham said he was beaten and spent nearly entire days in a small cell. Since his release he has worked to ensure that no one else has to experience the dehumanization he did.

El-Sayed on Vance: Is that Peter Thiel's boy with that Ohio charisma? The last thing that he said that made any sense was Hillbilly Elegy—after he said that Donald Trump had no business being president of anything. And then he decided to suck up to power.
