While this is a HUGE WIN, there's more work to do. It's time to DOUBLE DOWN in pressuring Congress. They need to revoke the OMB Proposal. Members of Congress who fail to stop the Proposal will be out of a job January 3rd, 2027, we will make sure of it. 🧵
Word to the wise: any president or board that responds to this letter without formally consulting their faculty and staff through established governance bodies and after a public comment period is abdicating their fiduciary responsibility. #MakeSharedGovernanceMatterMore www.ed.gov/media/docume...

A few hot takes on the letter, which I will refer to as Compact 2.0: 0) I appreciate the shift from outright extortion to (theoretically) open-ended questions. 1) Nevertheless, both the framing of the questions and wording of several rest on a thin evidence base and unexamined assumptions.

The president of my college is finally resigning in disgrace, but the situation remains bleak. Our search for a chief librarian was canceled and the adjuncts we hired as stop-gaps when we couldn't replace retired faculty have all been cut. How are we supposed to support students in these conditions?
