Fascinating story about how the social dynamics of people who don't think of themselves as a management class torpedoed the unionisation efforts at Double Fine, and how that meant the majority of the staff fired this summer were attempted union members.

Gef also told them that he was "an extra extra clever mongoose," an "Earthbound spirit" and "a ghost in the form of a weasel." The story became popular in the British tabloids. Investigators visited the Irving home, but found no proof of Gef. Some believe it was a hoax, using ventriloquism.

In 1931, the Irving family, who lived on a farm on the Isle of Man, claimed to have been visited by Gef, the Talking Mongoose. Gef supposedly told them "I am a freak. I have hands and I have feet, and if you saw me you'd faint, you'd be petrified, mummified, turned into stone or a pillar of salt!"
