Doomsong? The illustrations look vaguely familiar, but I don’t recall the game at all. Some grim dark goodness it sounds like.

just a heads up if you have a comic / art / culture / cool thing whether it be book, exhibition, event or anything along those lines that will still be relevant in, let's say, Sept onwards now would be a GREAT time to let us know about it. (music / literature / film stuff not required right now)

We LOVE doing stuff like this. We've done I-Spy with the art in Lord Have Mercy Upon Us, and a Discord member was all cheeky-finger-wags when he spotted three characters in the upcoming Thou Shalt Not Suffer the Wycce are named Bomolochus, Alazon and Eirona.

This morning: issues 7&8 of @wyrdscience.bsky.social — beautiful magazine. Wept for Rob, then crowed like a dork to see Long 18C ref @caesar-ink.bsky.social DOOMSONG (I’m fascinated by unsung references to the period, like when @colewehrle.bsky.social mentioned Pope as inspo for a game mechanic)

The whole map for Thou Shalt Not Suffer The Wycce works on this principle. Chris noticed that the Nottinghamshire map displayed in the castle showed towns in the form of landmarks-as-seen-approaching-by-foot, and mimicked it.

While they both have churches, one displays the Crook of St. Asaph and the other shows the Cross of the Immortal. Toffling Grove appears to have a few small cottages, and Nunnsey is given over almost completely to skeps.

maybe it's the flatness of the landscape or the amount of walking i do but i'm never not focussing on landmarks and pondering how important theyd've been before cars reduced our worldview

Lincoln Cathedral at a distance of about six miles, the tallest thing on the horizon in forever, and in the world until its spire fell off in 1549.

Since people are still sharing this, hey here's some promo: If you've gotten a game from an indie dev and you like it PLEASE, I'm begging you, take 10 seconds and leave a rating. On Drive Thru RPG or itch, wherever you can. Even better, give it a review! 🥹🙏
