People writing books and/or RPG adventures, what’s the nerdiest, most pointless bit of research you’ve done in the name of worldbuilding that you very probably didn’t need to do & no one else cared about? I just found my old notes with all the phases of the moon & tides in Northern England in 1566

One of the things I do love about doing historical research for speculative projects is how often the universe appears to go 'here you go my ridiculous child, enjoy some incontrovertibly true facts that people will think you're some kind of total Dan Brown hack for including' for example, the...

who knew that there was a new DC Justice League TTRPG that launched less than a week ago on gamefound? I mean obviously as of right now 1490 people but I haven’t seen a peep about this. Which, obviously, our bad but still says something. What I’m not exactly sure but anyway…

You may be recognising the art style of 💀 Moritz Krebs 💀 who has illustrated for Turnip28, Trench Crusade and, of course, Doomsong. We booked him solid for about two years to illustrate the Doomsong: Lord Have Mercy Upon Us ttrpg core & campaign #Horror&Heresy #Grimdark #Tabletop

Doomsong? The illustrations look vaguely familiar, but I don’t recall the game at all. Some grim dark goodness it sounds like.

There’s lots of reasons CoC as a licensed game has been ao successful, the nebulous nature of the mythos etc but I think one of the things that has really given it legs is that as settings/franchises etc go it’s really notable point is that it’s pretty much ‘oops, all antagonists’

Is Call of Cthulhu the most successful licensed game, both in terms of staying power and money? I also remember the original Marvel Superheroes game from TSR doing well back then.

So, DnD x World of Warcraft to be officially announced next week then. Trying to think, if they are going to go down the full Magic Universes Beyond route, what else this leads to… I mean the other Hasbro toy lines are an obvious go-to, though most are already tied up with whatever Renegade are

just want to say a huge thank you to everyone that goes out of their way to add fake shadows to any PNGs you supply of product shots. especially ones where the shadows go past the edge of the frame, along with slapping logos & obtrusive copyright info on them there's nothing more I like to see

Whilst I'm on a Lego tip, the new Minas Tirith set is RIDONKULOUS but special mention must go to Aragorn and his Pokeballed Sauron. I'm now imagining a spinoff mismatched couple/buddy cop series with these two travelling Middle Earth

just a heads up if you have a comic / art / culture / cool thing whether it be book, exhibition, event or anything along those lines that will still be relevant in, let's say, Sept onwards now would be a GREAT time to let us know about it. (music / literature / film stuff not required right now)

My Ian Miller prints just turned up and they’re so incredible I have to show them off. As ever apologies for the unscripted rambling, droning voice, poor camera work and terrible lighting. You all know by now I started a print mag for a very good reason & that wasn’t to gain industry respect 1/2
