Trying to escape reality. Gimme tea, rainy days, Autumn vibes, and fountain pen ink. Sleepy, gay ace, he/him.

I don't understand why we are humoring these guys who are complaining about wanting "historical accuracy" in the casting of a mythological story by taking the complaint at face value. They don't want "historical accuracy", they want all black and brown people to no longer exist. Say that.

production of The Muppet Show should not be dependent on petty vulgarities like “ratings” or “revenue.” it should be preserved as a vital function of american culture. it should have a taxpayer-funded budget rivaling the CIA

Having a chill Saturday, brewing some Tempa Black tea from @white2tea.bsky.social and marathoning the Twilight movies (beyond the first one they are new to me). The first one isn't as cheesy as I remembered, just the odd silly moment or line. Looking forward to Michael Sheen showing up eventually!

A plate with a skull design, on which sits a purple gaiwan filled with brewing tea, and a glass fair with metal strainer. Bags of loose-leaf tea are in the background.

Oh no! Sam Neill is gone! He was an icon, especially in horror and weirder genre movies. In Jurassic Park he was a big part in a lot of our youths. I'm really sad about this one, there's so many better candidates for death to take away right now! RIP Mr. Neill.

Both Michael's and Bath & Bodyworks have started putting out their Halloween goods and sending emails about it. We've passed the Summer Solstice and days are getting shorter now. Robert Eggers' 'Werewulf' trailer just dropped - It's still June but something wicked this way comes!

This week's #OliveArtClub is a paintbrush. I tried a different style, looser, more scribbly with a Pilot Parallel fountain pen with a 3.8mm stub nib. That really changed things up. There's a lot of shimmer in the coloured inks I used, which was fun but the paper didn't hold up well to being so wet.

A sketchbook page with an ink drawing of a paint brush done with thick loose scribbly lines. The background is painted with blue fountain pen inks, and the metal of the brush a shimmery brass color.

Inks used were 'Paradiso' from Wearingeul, and 'Blue Beryl Tonic' & 'Bookkeeper's Brass' from Ferris Wheel Press. The black ink is whatever comes with a Pilot Parallel pen, and was decidedly NOT waterproof.

For this week’s #OliveArtClub, please make art from this picture of a paintbrush. All levels welcome, special greetings to absolute beginners. All mediums, traditional or digital, no AI I took the photo, feel free to share or sell any human-made work based on it.

Some movie reviews: Masters of the Universe - Really fun! My 80's inner child loved it, my 2026 adult self also enjoyed it. 'D&D Honor Among Theives' is a good comparison, it doesn't take itself seriously at all in a good way, funnier than expected! Expect to have a good time with toys come to life

I'm coming in late with this week's #OliveArtClub. But here is a teapot. I didn't want to splatter the darker colour ink over this one because it would lose all the detail, but I still wanted to try to get some of that amazing blue on to the page somehow. This was my solution this time!

A sketchbook drawing of a teapot sitting on a wooden stump. It is detailed with stippling for the reflections and shading. Around the top of the teapot is a background of royal blue.

The fountain pen ink colour used this time was 'Arctic Blast' from Diamine.
