There is a big sale on Dragon Age, so: ✨DRAGON AGE BUYING GUIDE✨ - DA2 and DAI on Steam will still open up the horrible EA app when launching. - DAO and DAV run natively on Steam. - DAO is best on GOG, which has some needed stabilization fixes. If bought else where, you will NEED to mod DAO.

I spent the last few months talking to over 30 game developers about generative AI. It began as a sort of interview survey but became a pretty comprehensive collection of arguments against the technology altogether. www.gamesradar.com/games/why-so...

Why so many game developers don't want to use generative AI

With credits ranging from Dispatch and Marvel Rivals to Uncharted and Dragon Age, over 30 devs share their thoughts on gen AI

all of the UE6 stuff is really exciting news if your idea of a videogame is turning it into shitty Roblox-core slurry for Fortnite otherwise it's a pretty catastrophic misreading of the room, after indies successfully jumping ship from unity with the promise you actually care about developers

UE6 announcements are troubling (not even gonna touch the MCP stuff) but this is deeply DEEPLY concerning. To rip out the entire core that made UE4/5 so universally useful and for what? At this point I might as well just learn Godot

even in a world where generative asset tools had significant upsides to production time, it should be clear that the reputational backlash against them makes it absolutely not worth it. in fairness to Valve, their storefront AI disclosure requirement has really forced this issue into the open.

Crossfire | Reveal Trailer ▶️ youtube.com/watch?v=xx66... ▪️Single-player action adventure from That's No Moon ▪️Coming to PS5/Xbox/PC ▪️Follows Layla (Claudia Doumit) and 'Cross', two opposing guns-for-hire ▪️Features "transformative" 'Adaptive Cover' system that dynamically adapts to the terrain

The question I want answered by every member of the Senate and the House is "what did you do in the last 8 hours?" That's it. I don't need spin, I sure as hell don't need a story. I just want a list. What the fuck did you do today?

I say this with utmost respect, but Taylor is an absolute tool for saying this privately or publicly. I can say on good authority that it takes 7 to 10 years to develop game development skills to “good enough” to produce commercial game content. 7-10 years plus the cost of a university education.

As some of you are aware, part of Dragon Age day was to thank the DA Devs for all the hard work they put into the series we love so much. This is also the first DA Day where we have no DA team, as they were laid off earlier this year. So let's make an effort to support their new projects!🧵

Promotional graphic with a purple and blue fantasy-themed background and crystal-like formations. The image features two logos: the Wizards of the Coast logo in rainbow gradient colors on the left, and the Trans Lifeline logo in white on the right. Large bold text in the center reads: “Support Trans Lifeline.” Below, smaller text says “Tune in Oct 4” next to the Twitch logo.

OK! Started a newsletter where I'll share what I've written weekly, plus maybe some other little thoughts. Subscribe here: nicolecarpenterwrites.substack.com (I turned on paid subs, but everything will be free. No benefits for subs atm — just if you want to support my work in some way.)
