They confused anger about ‘the boats’ with generalised racism and since they couldn’t denounce the former they avoided the latter

I do think people are overreacting a little to this A CEO’s remit (and Schneider’s in particular) is always to grow your business. There’s no world in which you would ever say publicly “yeah we’re happy with our size, we don’t want to grow” - especially in the early years
