Good morning! I am reading and very much enjoying The Last Shield by Cameron Johnston. Gender-flipped Die Hard in a Bronze Age (I think) castle. Really fun book that shows far more research and craft that you might initially expect.
I'm really enjoying Ride or Die - Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham are excellent. Have to say, Hannah would make an excellent Briar in an adaptation of The Last Shield. I'm also very on board with this trend of older actors getting to do more cool stuff: The Boroughs etc.

I'm not sure how I feel about The Boroughs being cancelled after one season. On the one hand, I really enjoyed it, but on the other, I don't think it needed (or perhaps even wanted) a second season.
Well, Masters of the Universe was a lot of fun! Perfectly pitched to my Gen X nostalgia engine, and much funnier than I'd expected.

The Last Shield by Cameron Johnston. Briar is a warrior at midlife, seriously injured and questioning everything - and the story that unfolds is one of the most honest portrayals of acceptance and resilience I have read in a long time. Exactly the kind of book the Wise Woman shelf was made for. 4 ⭐️
47 The Shape of Monsters by CL Hellisen Creepy, tense, heart-breaking, full to the brim with monsters of every definition! It shines a light on the monstrosity present in humanity and sinks its claws deep into your skin. Delicious!
Two novels in the can and I'm taking a quick break to work on a kickass screenplay idea - like most things I write, it's what I'd like to read or watch myself.
I had a fantastic time at @cymerafestival.co.uk on the weekend there. Always a pleasure to see such enthusiastic fans and excellent authors, and the volunteers and admin did an amazing job!
