I have, with my own eyes, watched my tax dollars in the form of missiles as they hit buildings inhabited by civilians. I'd much prefer subsidizing a grocery story I don't use.

I was not aware that 28 Years Later was a remake of Reign of Fire.
Finally got the chance to spend time reading and WOW. This is a sprawling gothic small town horror that feels like an immense epic that still moves light and quick from thread to nasty thread. An elegant sweaty nightmare told in a wide variety of styles, including spot on very modern epistolaries.

I picked up the first Dungeon Crawler Carl book, mostly because I dig hype and want to be conversant in pop culture. I understand why people who enjoyed the prose style of Project Hail Mary would like this! It is perhaps, not for me.

Watching Backrooms with my daughter, and when the Caretaker track came on, she turned to me and said “oh is this from that six hours of music that’s supposed to be what it’s like to have dementia?” I have no idea where the kids are learning about The Caretaker.
As much as I like the song, I think Paul Simon is being unnecessarily judgmental about the roly-poly little bat-faced girl.
One of my favorite parts of For All Mankind is simply repeating the objective details of each episode and realizing how absolutely fucking bananas it sounds after the fact.
