So I decided to take a little step outside my Usual Posting, and made a post on r/control in regards to Resonant and just some easy to read transgender symbolism with the main character. Screenshot of said post attached in first image, relevant spoilers in it is covered. (cont)

Reddit post titled 'Dylan Faden and Transgender Symbolism [Spoilers]'

Text of body reads:
Just want to start at the top to say I adored this game. From the characters and bombastic moments to the quiet intimacy. Fantastic time.

So!

Dylan Faden, to me, has so much transgender symbolism connected to him.

From the repeated The Egg movie posters in the world to the Hiss chant including the line 'The last egg breaks now.' For those unaware, an 'egg' can refer to someone who is Trans But Not Aware of It Yet.

The theme of not being allowed to show his anger else those around him will consider him dangerous can easily reflect the experience of trans women being quickly demonized or shunned for 'man behavior' when angry.

There's also the wonderful nod to David Lynch in 'Fix Your Heart or Die', which is a line spoken by him in Twin Peaks in support of a trans woman.

Do I think that this means Dylan will be revealed to have these feelings and gender experience? Not necessarily, I just find it a really compelling way to look at this character and his experience of the world. A lot of Control Resonant is also tied to Dylan being compared to and a reflection of Jesse that he has likely harbored resentment about or even self-hatred for thinking he COULD be like her. Hard to want to be your 'real self' if that'd bring about even more comparisons.

Anyway, I don't make this to try to argue for my interpretations but just cause this game has crawled into my brain and really stayed there. I like it a lot and wanted to share in the joy of thinking on it.

Thanks for reading this if you did. Trans rignts!
