I’m getting real sick of articles about a cyberattack and/or data leak where the author spends the whole time wagging their finger at the naughty hackers, but completely disregards the colossal failures in security practices by the company that allowed it to happen in the first place.

I still remember when Talespin first aired on Saturday Disney, it was one of my favourite shows and a huge influence in me being a furry today. And it wouldn’t have been half what it was without that catchy as hell theme music. RIP James, your music plays on in the heads of greymuzzles everywhere.

Whenever I see a service advertised with something like “Powered by/Protected with/Enhanced by AI”, one of the first thoughts to cross my mind is “Oh, so it’s only a matter of time before some hacker socially engineers your glorified chatbot into giving them all your customers data? Neat.”

Few things piss me off more than fandoms that attack creators for not catering to their demands. You feeling sad when a character you were emotionally invested in dies doesn’t mean the author made a mistake, you’re emotionally invested because they’re TELLING A GOOD FUCKING STORY.

It’s not just the vandalism that bothers me, it’s the ignorance. ANZAC Day doesn’t glorify war, it’s a sobering reminder of the cost of it. We don’t celebrate conflict, we remember those we lost to it, so that we never become ignorant and allow history to repeat itself. Lest We Forget… literally.

I used to think the least likely element of the cyberpunk genre was the collapse of the wider internet, where some rogue AI or malware makes it unusable and forcing everything into isolated local networks. Think Bartmoss, the Blackwall, etc. Nowadays, I think it might be the most plausible outcome.

I really don’t understand why tech billionaires think it’s a good idea to invest in “AI wearables”. These things have till the public realises that it’s basically the equivalent of some passing stranger snapping nonconsenting photos of you and your family, at which point the beatings will commence.
