But they were right, they have completely reshaped the country in their own image. They created a right wing media empire now that will have implications for years to come. They will still hold the presidency for four more years. Project 2024 is almost complete

If Mitch McConnell hadn't stopped the momentum behind the move to impeach Trump and bar him from all future offices, the GOP could've licked its wounds, claimed redemption and been ready for a revival in the 2024 election, when conditions would've aligned for an easy win.

there are good and complicated reasons "quality of life" issues became the domain of the right, but the left's great failure since the '70s has been operating under the assumption that results matter less than righteous intent, despite arguing for a material politics

I tell the story often, but Rob Ford came to visit an apartment building on my parents Street. They had complained about their landlord. I am not sure of their politics, but I am sure they all voted for him because of that attention.

the greatest lesson of my political life was watching Rob Ford accrue power in Toronto because, i shit you not, when he was a city councillor you could call up his office about whatever small issues (potholes, permitting, etc) and he'd actually help you out
