Once again I used transparent red oxide as the underpainting colour - which seems to yield less ashy portraits. Finally managed to produce a decent mostly finished painting in the time.
So many shill news stories covering the Space-x launch. The booster crashed when engines failed. The “deployed” satellites were not released in orbit so immediately burned up. Nothing new happened.
Disappointed by the #mandalorian and Grogu movie. Some nice visuals ruined by a dull boiler-plate story executed as a live-action cartoon. Star Wars can be better than this.
For once, I’m pretty happy with a portrait done live. I have another long session this Sunday. Let’s see if I can do it again.

One of the most challenging things to do as artist, is a long form portrait with a live sitter. Did that today in Sheffield. Not sure if I got a perfect likeness but enjoyed the process.
I took one supermarket basil plant and divided it into 9 pots.
Been listening to the BBC Radio Adaptation of Lord of the Rings. Listened to it as a teenager. Some of it holds up really well. Only just worked out that Bill Nighy played Sam. (Not so keen on the singing tho.)
