Holiday in the climate emergency. No that’s not AI or edited, just a snapshot I just took with my phone on Lacanau beach in France. What future will this boy grow up in? It is in our hands, but time is running out.

I first bought my Mantas in 2009. They've been like old friends, keeping my toes toasty on glaciers from Arctic Sweden to Greenland. They're stained with rhodamine, beaten up from miles on ice, rock, and debris, and have earned their retirement after 17 years. Let's hope my new pair last as long! 🙏

An interesting insight into why UKRI calls often have short timescales. I'm working towards a ridiculously tight deadline now, and wonder whether there is also an element of "demand management" here, where less time = fewer applications for UKRI to handle? Either way, it's not fair on applicants.

I worked for UKRI for seven years and in my experience, the short timescales were 100% because of delays in central government. Usually because of delays in sign off by a minister; in the worst cases, due to number 10 comms teams insisting we hold back so the PM could announce it or whatever. 1/3
