A computer read my kid's name at his graduation yesterday, and even though it pronounced his name correctly, my little head did indeed pop off. How hard is it to get an actual human faculty member to do this? You all have PhDs. You can manage

Among the many things I learned while working on this article: The sculpture Idee di Pietra (Ideas of Stone) is NOT conceptual. I assumed it was intended as a critique of capitalism - a barren tree that produces only rocks. In fact it was inspired by stones lodged in a tree after an avalanche.

Just sent the Spring/26 issue of The Core to press. That’s Robert Maynard Hutchins on the cover, drawn by his wife, artist and novelist Maude Hutchins. He led the U of Chicago from 1929 to 1951 and made all kinds of radical educational experiments.
