Caswell County Democratic Party

Caswell County Democrats! A better North Carolina. A more just and prosperous America. Pluralism and good governance are worth fighting for... ...we fight for them here in Caswell County, NC.

USDOJ election monitors will be in Wake, Alamance, and Mecklenburg counties on Election Day, according to the NC Board of Elections. The DOJ had announced it would send monitors to every state as part of the largest monitoring effort in history. #ncpol

US Justice Department to send election monitors to these NC counties • NC Newsline

U.S. Department of Justice is sending election monitors to Wake, Mecklenburg and Alamance counties as part of its expansive 50-state plan.

i say that because there seems to be this view that a landslide is par for the course, that trump is so grotesque anyone would win but that just isn't the case, you *can* win under these conditions (hungary, serbia) but those wins are the exception

if dems win, they will have won under full competitive authoritarianism—highly skewed districts, diminished voting rights, an bifurcated legal regime, & a media that won't even report rape allegations against the president that will be an astounding achievement, however you slice it

Guess who showed up for a poll greeting shift today at early voting in Caswell County? Paul Barringer! (If incumbent GOP Rep. Brad Knott did that on EVERY REMAINING DAY of this election, he still wouldn’t have spent more days in Caswell than PAUL BARRINGER! (Where you been Brad?)

Paul Barringer has put in the work this year to get to know Caswell. We’ve been excited to have him here in the county MANY TIMES, incl. multiple open town halls. But his opponent? Our current Rep. Brad Knott? Never seen the guy. We’re unaware of Knott ever visiting this part of his district.

AG Jeff Jackson is literally fighting Duke Energy over rate increases that the General Assembly passed legislation to make happen. We can have state leaders who push bills that don't focus on profits for monopolies. It can be done.

Barringer started airing TV ads shortly before early voting started. Knott, who had not run ads this cycle, either, quickly followed suit. #ncpol

In 2026, U.S. utilities requested $23 billion+ in rate hikes. At the same time, they poured money into state and federal politics. Two new EPI analyses track utility industry giving to partisan "527" groups that back state officials, and to congressional campaigns. A Duke Energy-focused 🧵 #ncpol

The side effect of this that drives me batty is where all this national & state level ‘donation mining’ has left County Dem Parties (CDPs). They’ve turned so many against donating to *THE PARTY* that small CDPs are forced to operate on duct tape & dust. GIVE TO YOUR (consultant free) COUNTY PARTY!

Your phone buzzes with a frantic text message. "DEMOCRACY IS ON THE LINE." It's not the first time you've gotten a fundraising text like this from the Democratic Party and its candidates. Nor the first time you've rolled your eyes.

Just as a private equity firm buys out a corporation and strips it for parts, a consultant class is raiding the Democratic Party and getting “generationally wealthy” along the way New from me and @adambonica.bsky.social newrepublic.com/article/2163...

Amendments "that if approved by voters, would enshrine massive tax cuts for richest residents & corporations, limit property tax levies & require voter ID for absentee & mail-in ballots. We see all 3 as dangerous overreach that should be rejected." #VOTE www.thecharlottepost.com/news/2026/10...

We urge NC voters to reject constitutional amendments

Why are Camp Lejeune survivors being told to wait until after the midterms for justice? Republicans already control the White House, House, and Senate. Trump, stop making promises conditional on election results. Settle the claims and pay the families. Now.

Trump on Camp Lejeune water contamination claims: "If we win the House and Senate, I am directing the Department of Justice to settle all remaining legitimate claims as soon as possible ... if we don't win, there's no money."

Chief Justice Newby is on the campaign trail with GOP judicial candidates, defying ethics rules. Judges aren’t supposed to endorse candidates or give them money, unless they’re also on the ballot. But Newby effectively controls the Judicial Standards Commission. So he can do what he wants. #ncpol

“I think that’s some wordsmithing that’s there,” one Republican candidate said of Newby’s support. “Because he did say he cannot endorse.”

This is Sara. Sara is a vice chair of the Caswell Democrats & the most tireless, unstoppable force in local politics for miles (around wherever she happens to be). Sara is in her 3rd consecutive shift at early voting… TODAY. AND she’s phone banking when it’s slow. Let’s all be more like Sara.

#ncpol VOTE ‘AGAINST’ ALL 3 AMENDMENTS to the NC Constitution. They stink. (How bad??) REAL BAD. (Plus, the folks who wrote them? They think you’re stupid.) (Seriously, they want to make YOUR local decisions in Raleigh because they believe YOU CAN’T BE TRUSTED!)

SAY NO
To Every Amendment
ALL 3 ARE BAD
• unecessary gimmicks
• same old Raleigh tricks
• hurts counties like ours
• only helps corporations & the super-rich

What’s more, being able to recommend this kind & humble, yet exactingly true, bit of portraiture — instead of engaging in my usual spiel illustrating the decentralized nature of “The Party” — is gonna be VERY handy/time-saving. (And keep me from accidentally inflicting friendly fire along the way).

Meet the Democrats

The party is not an abstract cabal powered by fever dreams, but a living, breathing coalition held together by a ceaseless grind and people with the will to face it.
