what if i do not want to be optimized. what if i want to make mistakes because that’s how you learn; what if i want to do nothing sometimes, what if i want a world that is weird and challenging and has mysteries left to reveal. what if i like taking the long way

hello 👋 I'm mari (she/her) ✨ I work in video game marketing, but I do game design & art stuff as well! here, you'll mostly find cats, ever changing hair colours, and generally warm takes 🍵 💚 I make mini games @ catamariii.itch.io 💙 I collect mechanical keyboards 🧡 I draw, sometimes

chibi self-portrait. I'm sitting in front of an iPad, wearing an oasis shirt and drinking from a mug with "eepy" written on it.
my hair is mostly a natural shade of orange, with a bold green and blue streak on the front. I look just a little bit tired (:

I'm compiling all the visual assets I made for our jam game, The Necromancer's Toque, into some artboards for a neat thread 🧵 This is the Throne Room, the first thing I designed, which helped us settle on an art style and vibe! #GameDev #GameArt

The Necromancer's Toque | The King's Throne room, featuring some interactable stations and NPCs

The Necromancer's Toque, our little jam game, is online! ☠️ As the tiny assistant of a very fashionable King of The Undead, face the dangers of the underworld to gather everything you need to craft the Ultimate Toque! 🌳🪨💎 (made in two weeks, lil 🐛s to be expected 💜) buhlien.itch.io/the-necroman...

banner art for "The Necromancer's Toque", a little game made for a jam. the blurred background features the Necromancer King's castle hall, while the focus is on the game's logo (a chibi skull with a horned toque), and the game's title in a blackletter-inspired font

i haven't done a game jam in years, but some of my fav dev friends and i started one a few days ago for fun was thinking of doing a mini dev log (from a music, audio, implementation perspective) because i usually never get to share my work or process publicly when it's for a commercial project

I feel incredibly lucky to be working with my dear friend and favorite sound designer Marina on another jam game! 💜✨ You won't believe the SPEED at which she's delivering excellent work 😌 She'll be posting more about her process so keep an eye on her profile if you're curious!

a little sneak peek before i write my first dev log :) just tested ambience sound changes for every area, implemented using Wwise + Godot still rough, but it's always exciting when something works as intended
