I’m hesitant to share much about my quarantine holds bc their futures are so uncertain… but they deserve their story told. These 5 of 11+ housecats survived horrific neglect and are temporarily staying in my garage thanks to your kind donations. Please meet the quarantine gang: 1. The General

I know things are bad but please don't pass up adopting that puppy or kitty that you've been thinking about. My house and my rescue foster network are so full that we are passing up on lives that we could save because adoptions have trickled to a stop in 2026. And we're not the only rescue affected.

Want to see how I’m putting your kind donations to work? I’m holding 5 of 11 cats removed so far from a terrible neglect situation for a 2 week quarantine (long story for another post). I was NOT equipped to hold that many medically compromised adult cats that long. But YOU made it possible! 1/🧵

Two adult cats sit side by side in a large cat carrier, looking exhausted. One is a gorgeous black and white tuxie with fabulous white whiskers. The other is a grizzled old yellow tabby with scars and sores over his face. Both have perfect white paws. They are warily sitting together but would like their own space after surviving a filthy, cramped home environment. They remember being pets and being loved - they are friendly and enjoy head rubs and scritches. Photo owned by CatCareNetwork.org

Y’all are amazing… 23 online donations this month totaling just under $1k! 🥰 Every donation makes such a difference to my tiny mostly self-funded org… as does every like, share, and comment to help boost visibility And a first… 2 of you are now donating monthly! 🤩 Can’t thank you enough. 1/🧵

Thank you for your support! The need in our local community is great. Low-income families often don't have the means (e.g., money, time, transportation) to take advantage of services. Cat Care Network ...

"TNR just creates more community cats." The cats are already there. Without TNR, those same cats continue having litter after litter. TNR changes that. TNR prevents them. It's not about adding to the problem. It's one of the only proven ways to end the cycle. Fix. Feed. Save.

Today was hard 😿 I assessed a horrific situation where an elderly owner had basically left his housecats to fend for themselves for over a year. Not enough food or water. Garbage and feces everywhere. The surviving cats & kittens appear sickly. This is my first severe neglect case… 1/🧵

A fluffy mama tortishell cat perches on very worn and dirty cat tree with garbage piled up behind it. A fluffy kitten who was way too skinny and lethargic sits on the floor below. I’m hoping to catch the most vulnerable kittens asap to get them out of this terrible neglected situation. Photo by CatCareNetwork.org

Made the heartbreaking decision to release these two little ones back to their outdoor home 😿 If kittens aren’t socialized by 3mo, it’s VERY difficult to get them comfortable w humans. After 2 weeks, I’ve seen only a little progress (still not able to touch them with my hand). 1/🧵

A lovely grey tabby named Tappet sits in a cage indoors. Over 2 weeks, she and her big brother Clack got comfortable with me being close to the cage and using the telescoping metal hand but continued to recoil, hiss and lash out at human hands (even with snacks). Photo owned by CatCareNetwork.orgA gorgeous grey and white 4 month old kitten named Clack gazes out while sitting in an indoor cage. He was always very curious and playful so I was hopeful he would allow touches… but he just couldn’t get comfortable with human hands. Photo owned by CatCareNetwork.org

Unbelievable! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I trapped one of the garage mamas… she already had another litter of 4 babies. After I’d just rounded up FOURTEEN other kittens from previous litters 😭 Her previous litter is 10weeks old. And THAT is how unwanted cat population spirals out of control 🙀 But there’s good news…

A furious looking black kitty with a white muzzle glares up from her cardboard box where she’s safely snuggled with 4 tuxie kittens, just born maybe 2-3 days ago. After I trapped her and found the kittens, I set her up in an xxl dog crate. Thankfully the caretaker is wiling to help keep her food, water, and litter fresh plus set up fans to help keep the little family cool in the garage. I’m hoping to keep them together at least a few weeks. Photo owned by CatCareNetwork.org

Dishonest John and I are so thankful & humbled by your kind donation, friend! 😻🙏 Your generosity really lifted my spirits 🥰 It has been a very hard few months with losing my dad suddenly, caregiving for my mom who has dementia 😮‍💨 plus trying to juggle work, family, and this little cat nonprofit 1/🧵

Hi! I just sent a few things from your chewy list. We have family in Ames and wanted to help the babies ❤️🐱

I am so impressed with folks who easily juggle a phone while recording kitten interactions… it’s not easy! 😅 But here are some videos showing how I start introducing “touch” to unsocialized cats & kittens with low risk of bleeding 🩸 See alt text for details… 1/🧵

Take videos if possible! I’ve always thought that sticking something in their space would scare them. Very curious on this process. 14 kittens…!!!

I haven’t been able to pet this handsome pair of mustached 3mo kittens yet 🥹 (2 of 14 kittens rescued from a garage) Happily they are already showing curiosity and tolerance, so I’ll use a back scratcher w telescoping “hand” today to start conditioning them to touch… safety first!

Two beautiful grey and white kittens huddle together in a box while looking at the camera with big sparkly eyes. They both have grey masks, white paws, white muzzles and bibs, distinctive grey spots on their noses and mouths plus magnificent white ear fluff! They are nervous but tolerate me being so close, which is a great indicator they’re ready for baby steps of interaction. Photo owned by CatCareNetwork.org
