This morning in 1945—at 5:29 AM (Mountain War Time)—about 35 miles southeast of Socorro, New Mexico, the nuclear age began with a big bang. Contrary to later widespread assumptions, the area surrounding the remote TRINITY test site was not uninhabited, and the fallout did not drift away harmlessly.

A friend who works at a school told me that kids don't know how to tell the time from a non-digital clock now, which got me thinking about "clockwise" & "anticlockwise" before clocks were a thing... I've been very much in favour of us reverting to Sunwise and Widdershins ever since. Wonderful word 🖤
