Last night the El Cerrito City Council voted to end our Flock contract! Huge thanks to the hundreds of El Cerritans who organized to make this happen. They met with councilmembers multiple times, shared research, sent emails, circulated petitions and dozens spoke at our meeting that ended at 1 am.

But last month, Parisians voted in a referendum to turn an additional 500 streets over to pedestrians. A year earlier, Paris had moved to sharply increase parking fees for SUVs, forcing drivers to pay three times more than they would for smaller cars. The city has also turned a bank of the Seine from a busy artery into a pedestrian zone and banned most car traffic from the shopping boulevard of Rue de Rivoli. Carlos Moreno, a professor at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University and a former adviser to the city, said the French capital has developed “an urban policy based on well-being.”

Give input at June 25 meeting or use online survey by July 3 to give input on priorities and concept designs. Use an online workshop or survey to let us know how to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists who use Telegraph Avenue while improving bus speed and reliability.The City is also seeking to integrate better truck and delivery loading zones on this section of Telegraph Avenue, which stretches from Dwight Way to Woolsey Street at the Oakland border. Options include bus-only lanes and bus stop improvements, physically protected and separated bike lanes, crosswalks, curb management, and other improvements.
