Joy, pain, fear.. the full set of #emotions evolved 0.5 billion years ago. For animals to experience #trauma, which is dysregulated fear learning, in evolutionary terms requires a limbic system sophisticated enough for long-term emotional memory. This extends back to the earliest vertebrates.
