Related to this matter, one of my favorite papers shows that despite variations in language structure and speech rate, languages tend to transmit information at a similar rate, around 39 bits per second. 1/3 www.science.org/doi/full/10....

Different languages, similar encoding efficiency: Comparable information rates across the human communicative niche

Human languages encode similar average information rates (~39 bits/s) despite their remarkable differences.

On top of these new features, in our previous updates of complemetrix.net we included - a warning about retracted papers - Field Weighted Citation Index, measuring relative citations of the paper in the field and year. @ceps-ubics.bsky.social @openscienceesp.bsky.social

Our latest paper is already out in @naturecomms.bsky.social !! Thanks to all the coauthors: my friends Vito Latora, Mattia Frasca and, very specially, to @santiagolaot.bsky.social & @federicomalizia.bsky.social for their tireless commitment, enthusiasm and so many animated discussions in "Itañol" 😉

If platforms like Bluesky rely on people, not algorithms, to amplify content, does it bring us closer to true democracy 2.0 (ie,online)? Or does human bias just replace algorithmic bias, mirroring the physical 🌎? There are pro & cons in both cases, and honestly I don't know yet which one is worst

Analyzing follower distribution of ~5M users (~20% of BlueSky) Expected: older accounts have ++followers. Surprising finding? Even after just 3-4 months, some users surpass 100k followers (1000x less likely than oldest accounts, but it happens!) Explosive growth... 💥 #scaling #ComplexSystems 🧵
