I'm sure all the flag-waving, Support the Troops republicans are up in arms over this, right?
President Donald Trump’s administration has detained more than 50 spouses and parents of U.S. troops as it rolls back immigration protections for military families, an AP investigation has found.
Scammers took advantage of this for a while - and likely still do - by creating credential-harvesting lookalikes of popular sites (banks, social media, crypto exchanges, etc) then paying to advertise them on Google. Boom, their honeypot now looks like the top search result.
To make this even worse, Google's spent years making it more difficult to distinguish ads from "organic" search results, changing the font and size of the "ad" warning to make it harder to spot, and making the font and color of the ad itself closer to the color of the search results below it. 28/
😻😻😻CLEANSING THERMONUCLEAR FIRE IS CANCELED FOR THE EVENING! CAT SITTING FOSTER KITTENS LEADS TO KITTENS CAPTURING FOREVER HUMANS AND GOODNESS REMAINS IN THE WORLD!😻😻😻
Update: the kittens have arrived home!
Not to take the bait or state the obvious, but... Most animals like dogs (for the most convenient example) have a gland in their butt that provides a sort of lube for their bowel movements. Humans do not have that gland, and therefore don't have that same lube that allows us to poo without wiping.
Oh my god the dietician who is telling everyone in the White House to only eat steak and sauerkraut doesn't wipe his ass.
A Tale of Two Kitties: Orion, the brother, lounging high and open on the cat tree. Aurora, the sister, tucked in the corner of our sons bed, nestled under dozens of stuffed animals, doing her level best to blend in. It's been ~2 days, but I love them both so much...

[looks at ICE detention centers] Yes. Camps. Camps would be horrific to have operating in this country, right?
These guys are freaking out over their own imaginations again.
The message "they want to inspect your daughter's genitals" would be astoundingly effective. Which is also why conservative Democrats who want to cave won't say it. In general, they would rather lose and be comfortable than win and have to push hard.
Insane that democrats keep trying to cave on this issue rather than amplifying the fact that it’s being spearheaded by bigots and freaks
🔎 Trump had long claimed his accounts were closed for political reasons following the Jan. 6 Capitol riot — a narrative he used to justify the Trump family's crypto pivot, according to Al Jazeera. But now Capital One's real reasons have been revealed.

Really interesting thread about the true history of street cars/mass transit in the US:
this is not true. there was no conspiracy. it didn't matter whether the streetcars were publicly owned (seattle, detroit) or private (los angeles, atlanta). a thread (because i wrote a whole-ass book on this): 1/?

“Many people say that I look like a young Elvis Presley.” *By “many people,” he means absolutely no one on Earth.
The US just put tariffs on most of the other countries in the world, the legal justification being a law permitting tariffs on countries insufficiently policing the use of slave labor.
The diarrhea lettuce company, Taylor Farms, uses slave labor contracted from the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. The backbreaking labor is often performed by imprisoned Mexican nationals who would be otherwise ineligble to work in the US. They are paid $1.50 an hour.
🚨 NEWS: In a new court filing, Capital One says Donald Trump’s accounts were closed in 2021 after months of analysis by its anti-money laundering (AML) professionals, not because of politics, as Trump has long claimed. 1/
PSA: if you catsit a pair of foster kittens for a week, there is a better than average chance you'll end up adopting the foster kittens... Anyway, this is Orion (left) and Aurora. Chances are they are coming home with us tomorrow.
Bad Hair Day from @alyankovic.bsky.social, without question.

Wow, you got us! Arabs say Inshallah!
Despite the unrelenting deluge of awful stuff in this world, there are still good, hope-inspiring things to be found:
For the first time ever, solar produced over 50% of Califormia’s electricity for the entire month of May. This is not small feat: California is the world’s 4th largest economy, has 39 million people (more than many countries), 1.2 million EVs and 4+ million businesses.
Me very carefully trying to toe the line on MPR: “It has not been formally stated who is responsible for these attacks, but there are several indications that…” Several days later: we think it may be Iranians NO SHIT
Just FYI, both claims in this post are absolutely true. ~A cishet man

minnesota state rep jess hanson rides elon musk for filth for trying to defend his pervy app: "when the richest man in the world hangs out with the epstein class... we cannot act surprised when he's trying to protect the number one tool used to make child sexual abuse material"
One: the president shouldn't have the power to do this in the first place, and Two: I know the list of easy, instant, bipartisan-backed impeachable offenses is depressingly long, but this one has got to be in the top three.

Four women accuse Jared Leto of criminal sexual conduct when they were teenagers
The actor and musician faces allegations from 10 women in total who say he mistreated them as teenagers.

Saw Jared Leto trending for yet more sexual assault allegations, this time with teens. Got curious, and dropped his name into the Epstein mail search, and.. I know it doesn't mean anything, but it does bring up a few questions:
