There are 100 things you need to know about using AI productively in systems engineering, and 98 of them have the word "context" in them.
"Doing bad things" and "failing to do what you can to prevent others from doing those things" are both not-good things. However, the first is (in the technical sense) categorically worse than the second, and failure to realize this is kind of an Internet disease right now.

One of the great things about this modern world is that a statement can be both something a technologist actually said in all seriousness, and at the same time technobabble in that it really isn't meaningful in any serious sense, it's just what people say to each other to sound like they're smart.

If you want an idea of how dumb quoting GPU capacity in "gigawatts" is, imagine: * "In August 2025, Ford Motor Company shipped 7600 gallons per mile of gasoline-powered vehicles." * "British Airways announced adding an addition 230,000 liters of aviation fuel per month of new routes in July."
OK, there are so many things bad about the AI business model that this one is pretty petty, but: I hate that GPU capacity is now measured in "gigawatts."It feels like they are finally making it clear that the only purpose of the technology is to consume electricity.
