Someone let Crypt Keeper Carver out of his lair, and now he's babbling about Hasan Piker and leaving the Dem party ('cause they're not fascist enough I guess). "It's the economy stupid" - yeah, we figured that out decades ago. Turns out the economy is stupid, not us. Go back to sleep dude.

The avg computer (not tablet or phone) user experience has gotten worse. Shortcut keys change between versions. Search functionality is crap. Menu strucutres have gotten less logical. Some menus have disappeared behind hamburgers that shouldn't be hamburgers. Response times are longer.

It's important folks understand that ICE isn't exceptional or unprecedented in its brutality. The police, CPB, the military, private security, sheriffs, state police, surveillance agencies, prison guards, are also and always have been abusive and horrific. Abolish ICE should be the start not the end

Saying "the US is a third world country" is an insult to developing countries. People take science, education, healthcare and vaccines seriously in developing countries. Most of the problems in developing countries are due to so-called first world countries and corporations.

This week's read is the wildest book I've picked up in a while: Dengue Boy, by Michel Nieva. The main character is a giant mutant human-mosquito hybrid living in 2273 in a post climate change slum in Argentina, which is now mostly a chain of islands thanks to sea level rise. Then it gets weird.

The book "Dengue Boy" by Michel Nieva stands on a grey table in the foreground. In the background out of focus are several light wood bookshelves full of books. The book cover has the title in dark yellow/green. A green giant mosquito with red pants flies in front of a black background with stylized depictions of the sun, stars and planets.

Dozens of immigrants at Miami’s Federal Detention Facility are trapped in brutal heat with no AC, sleeping in underwear, and finding roaches in their food. When one spoke out, he was thrown into solitary. Total abuse. We demand an immediate investigation and human rights NOW! 🎥 tomaskenn

Everyone is grieving - rightfully so - over losing Sam Neill. But please pour one out for Wai Ching Ho, wonderful Hong Kong actress who did it all - stage, film, tv - and also passed away this weekend. Go watch Greg Pak's "Robot Stories" to see some of her work.

Photo of an older Chinese woman looking up and to the right, wearing a black collared shirt, with tightly bound hair. An office building or apartment building sits behind some trees and a front garden in the background, out of focus.

Was doing Karaoke to Rage Against the Machine's "Bulls on Parade." They called it right back then and now. "Weapons, not food, not homes, not shoes Not need, just feed the war, cannibal animal, I Walk the corner to the rubble That used to be a library, line up to the mind cemetery now /1

Three egg producers will pay $3.3 million and donate 53 million eggs to food banks and nonprofits to settle a price-fixing lawsuit with the DOJ. None of the producers have to admit any wrongdoing. Is this really justice? Or just the cost of doing business?

Egg companies made $1.22 billion in profit off a $6 carton — now they’re buying their way out of a price-fixing case with 53 million donated eggs | Fortune

None of them admitted wrongdoing.

My fellow Xers are a disappointment. They see Mamdani doing good things and fixate on him being a commie (which he isn't anyway). IMHO our gen was more brainwashed in some ways than later ones. We were raised with the idea that cOmMuNiSm Bad. Not surprising Trump et al get mileage on that tired shit

It's Disability Pride Month! Time for corporations to spend money on ad campaigns showing smiling people at their offices. Of course those offices are inaccessible, they forced everyone to go back to said office without improving HVAC, & their data centers are driving up asthma rates

My extremely hot take: Old-style boom boxes on subways back then > screeching train wheels > sounds of teenagers vomiting > Tinny JBL speakers on subway now > someone playing music on their phone speakers If you're going to play your music on the subway, play it properly with real speakers
