Stop what you're doing and read this painfully beautiful flash by Natalie Schriefer. flash-frog.com/2025/08/25/c...
Cartwheels by Natalie Schriefer
Nick’s millionth cartwheel looks like his first: He plants one hand on the grass and then, before I can catch his legs and help, he tumbles into a round-off. For a moment I’m taller than him, and I…

What if, instead of a syllabus, I just told my students that the entire semester was going to be an Ask Me Anything about the '90s.
People posting about how they’ve never seen em dashes used before the rise of ChatGPT are really great at telling folks they’ve never read a book before.
Visiting my mom, who is preparing to move away from our hometown that I left 8 years ago. Today, I am writing in a Starbucks in said town that used to be a Blockbuster when I lived here. Time is weird.
Hit 50k words on my novel rewrite. Can someone explain why NaNoWriMo isn't during summer?!
Some days, writing sessions just involve writing. The last two days, they've involved google mapping the distances between settings to figure out how the characters go from point A to point B, and looking up exhibits in a museum I haven't yet visited.
Hit 40k words on my novel rewrite today. (Almost) halfway there?
Figured out that if I write ~1500 words/day for the rest of my summer vacation, I can finish the 2nd draft of my novel before I return to work. Today is the first day I actually hit that number. Why is 1500 so much more intimidating than 1000?!?
Spent two weeks at Craigardan in the Adirondacks at my first offical writing residency. I started the second draft of my current novel-in-progress & rewrote the first 60 pages! It was magical & I wish I could just spend the whole summer up there.
Who else will be at the NYC poetry festival tomorrow (Saturday)?
Just spent the last two weeks rewriting the first 60 pages of my current novel-in-progress. Today I’m taking a break to submit the first novel to small press number 17. 🤞🏻🫠
Heading to my first ever writing residency soon! Writer friends, what advice do you have for residencies?
This is wild. I hate AI.
WHAT. THE ACTUAL. FUCK. Chicago Sun Times seems to have used AI to write its summer reading list of BOOKS THAT DO NOT EXIST. I did not write a book called Boiling Point. @rumaan.bsky.social and Min Jin Lee and Percival Everett etc. etc. did not write these books. WTAF
Three new poems out today in @rfpress.bsky.social! These are best read on a computer or by flipping your phone sideways since the lines are kinda long. www.roifaineantpress.com/post/percept...

I've been writing for about 25 years and published 8 books so far and nearly all of them have been based on crazy/stupid ideas. Literally never sent anybody a *solicited* manuscript. Do your thing and keep it weird, friends.
Sneak peak of one of THREE poems I have coming out in @rfpress.bsky.social this weekend!
Halfway through the week & we haven't had even a hint of a poetry party! I think we need to rectify that, tout suite! This is a bit of "What No One Tells You About Living on Your Own After a Breakup", one of a 3-pack from Chelsea Dodds @chelseadodds.bksy.social Read all of them on Sunday!
Totally gutting the first 30 pages of this novel draft. Wish me luck. 😬
When one of the characters in your novel is an aspiring sculptor so you spend the day at a sculpture park for inspiration.
I haven't written anything over my April break, but I picked flowers from the yard and baked scones.
When you're exhausted and sleep for 12 hours but wake up to an acceptance for THREE of your poems!!
