Visiting my mom, who is preparing to move away from our hometown that I left 8 years ago. Today, I am writing in a Starbucks in said town that used to be a Blockbuster when I lived here. Time is weird.

Some days, writing sessions just involve writing. The last two days, they've involved google mapping the distances between settings to figure out how the characters go from point A to point B, and looking up exhibits in a museum I haven't yet visited.

Figured out that if I write ~1500 words/day for the rest of my summer vacation, I can finish the 2nd draft of my novel before I return to work. Today is the first day I actually hit that number. Why is 1500 so much more intimidating than 1000?!?

Spent two weeks at Craigardan in the Adirondacks at my first offical writing residency. I started the second draft of my current novel-in-progress & rewrote the first 60 pages! It was magical & I wish I could just spend the whole summer up there.

Just spent the last two weeks rewriting the first 60 pages of my current novel-in-progress. Today I’m taking a break to submit the first novel to small press number 17. 🤞🏻🫠

I've been writing for about 25 years and published 8 books so far and nearly all of them have been based on crazy/stupid ideas. Literally never sent anybody a *solicited* manuscript. Do your thing and keep it weird, friends.
