I find myself burning with incandescent rage at the way all the civics and constitutional rules and laws I learned my whole life are actually just suggestions if the ppl in congress have a deficiency in courage "A gentleman's agreement only works if the ppl involved are gentlemen "

This one stings. Thanks to Jeff/Stanchion for putting out so much great weird beautiful writing, and supporting writers and books/magazines. This is how it goes in our weird little world. It's a bummer but also time to say thanks and celebrate all Jeff and Stanchion accomplished.
Officially announcing the end of Stanchion Magazine, providing context as to why, answering some questions, and saying thank you. 🖤🤍 www.stanchionzine.com/post/the-end...

This story from Dave Housley looks at a classic game of cat and mouse—or, coyote and roadrunner—from a single perspective.

Wile E. Coyote, despaired, takes a bucket of paint and a brush and paints a beautiful two-bedroom house on a mountainside. He paints a beautiful coyote wife in the window, and two adorable coyote kids running around in the yard. He tries to enter this new coyote life, but it is inaccessible to him
Since A Second Sight came out I've received about 2-3 of these scam emails a week. They are not only profoundly annoying but obviously prey on author's passions and attachment to their work. In some cases they impersonate real people at legit organizations.

Bittersweet when rich famous people whose work you really admire wind up working on exactly the same writing project you've been working on for years, and really not getting rich and famous doing it. Anyway, great interview with Danny McBride in The Ringer, about his new book of short stories.
remember, be careful what you post on a day like this. If you do it right, you can get illegally fired for being disrespectful to Lindsay Graham and then win a massive lawsuit about 10 months from now and retire with 2 million in your pocket

One of the few things I miss about being in an office is walking around on the afternoon before a holiday weekend and telling people they should go home. One of the few actual pleasures of being a wonky middle manager type. So go ahead, everybody, head on out early -- it's fine, I said you could.
Spent the weekend w 40 writers at @barrelhouse.bsky.social Writer Camp and had so many great conversations about writing and publishing and movies and just about everything. Realizing now that one thing that never came up is the idea of using AI in creating writing. Most likely b/c that idea sucks.
Bodhi is a horse dressed as a dog. He was protecting the fragile writer-types from the rain at this weekend’s @barrelhouse.bsky.social camp, where much writing and some admiring of movies from 1987 happened.
