For the people that don’t understand: being a capitalist is owning the means of production, NOT participating in the system of capitalism. Sure, you can be an *aspiring* capitalist or pro-capitalist, but even most people that make a ton of money aren’t actually capitalists themselves.

While this is definitely good to see, it might be a case where it's often easier to maintain what exists than set up something new. Different electorate and economy, but when we tried to create an income tax up here in Washington state, it failed. So yay, we keep on being the most regressive.

Funny thing I learned from a @jonbois.bsky.social essay about slipping on banana peels: apparently we had to learn to actually ship the bananas _before_ they're ripe so for a while we were just shipping bananas that showed up rotten And you can see why that happened
