American celebrations of independence get it all wrong by focusing on the Founders. The actual spirit of revolution lies with the people who fight the powerful and it exists everywhere and cannot be destroyed, no matter how hard the wealthy might try. jaredyatessexton.substack.com/p/notes-on-t...

The American mythology is evaporating. What's left is necessary reality.

I just got my student loans forgiven. I had about $38,000 in loans from grad school after paying for 10 years I was at a balance of $41,000. This will be an extra $500 per month for my family. Imagine what people in this country could do with free or even cheap education. We could be great.

As an aside US missiles need ammonium perchlorate. The only domestic source is a facility in Cedar City, Utah US missiles also need RDX & HMX. The only domestic source is a facility in Kingsport, Tennessee US missiles also need engines. The only domestic source is a facility in Pontiac, Michigan

We off the richest person in Britain and take all their stuff and give it to everyone else and then we work our way down the list of the next richest people doing the same until everyone else can afford food, warmth and housing. If we can't afford poor people, we can't afford rich people.

..what does "ordinary people should not pay for this crisis" mean? A rise in oil/energy prices makes the UK, collectively, significantly poorer. There is just no way that government can, or should, insulate 99%(or whatever) of the population from the impact of that.

Remember: There is nothing natural or inevitable about extreme inequality; it’s the result of an economic system that values wealth and power over human dignity and justice. It doesn't have to be this way.

What is violence? Is it tossing a tear gas canister back to the mercenaries who shot it at you? Is it blowing a whistle at bounty hunters who are trying to abduct someone? Perhaps, rather than asking whether an action is "violent," we should ask— Does it perpetrate oppression? Or interrupt it?

The Illegitimacy of Violence, the Violence of Legitimacy

What is violence? Who gets to define it? Does it have a place in the pursuit of liberation? This discussion never takes place on a level playing field.
