May 4-15, four of the COBS team led a MEDDLE experimental design workshop at CIBNOR (Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas del Noroeste) in La Paz, Mexico, combining MEDDLE with an experiment examining the effects of low pH on scallops during a simulated acute heatshock event.

one interesting thing so far about loudly hating AI is the way AI lovers are like "wow so you're just totally closed off to hearing another perspective??" as if their perspective hasn't been relentlessly pushed down our throats with no space to push back (particularly in professional settings)

Check out our new paper exploring how giant kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera) sporophytes from populations across Aotearoa New Zealand respond to marine heatwaves in simulated experiments. We find general similar sensitivities that tend towards similar thermal tolerances across large geographic areas.
