Sad update, my beautiful Blini passed in her sleep. She had a number of health issues and a recent surgical procedure (that was necessary) plus the heatwaves were all too much. She passed quietly at night at home. Mimo is so far doing ok. Blini got me through many difficult times, I miss her dearly

Anyone planning a holiday in France, be warned that another heatwave is coming next week — the fourth this summer.
Should Travelers Give Up on Summer in Western Europe Because of the Heat?
A favorite vacation option may be at risk because of rising temperatures. Even those sticking with their summer plans agree: More air conditioning would help.

Early morning flight with Gwen Stefani (and No Doubt) years ago. Even in casual sweats and a time when everyone was groggy, she looked fabulous.
Random question: what celebrity have you met in real life who was dramatically better looking than ypu thought they were based on on screen appearance?
Bring back measles, to own the libs. Heckuva job by RFK Jr.
ATLANTA (AP) — US surpasses 2025’s record-breaking tally for measles cases, with 2,318 cases and 5 more months left in the year.
It's incredible to see what corrupt, bad leaders do for a country. Is it possible to recover? Seems doubtful.
Enten on the 67 point swing (!!!) against Israel among Americans: "We're not just talking about the Democratic base anymore. The general electorate has turned against Israel. This is not just a left issue. It's an American issue. The trend line is unbelievable."
This poor train is still lost and trying to find its way back home.
Today's proof showing how billionaires hate everyone other than themselves. This Trump loving asshole is firing 21,000 employees because he gambled and is losing. To think people wonder why the DSA is gaining popularity in the US. www.jpost.com/business-and...
AI bet goes awry: Oracle fires 21,000 employees | The Jerusalem Post
Oracle laid off ~13% of its staff to fund a $300B computing deal with OpenAI. Now, a credit downgrade and $7B in required power grid guarantees put the massive project in jeopardy.

The bagel’s journey from Jewish immigrant food to American breakfast staple
The bagel in America is an immigrant story with a hole in the middle. It came with Eastern European Jews escaping poverty and antisemitism, landing in New York street carts and bakeries.

Insane new research. Scientists gave asthma patients free electric stoves to replace their gas stoves, then checked to see if symptoms improved. Not only did symptoms improve, ditching gas was *better than medicine.* Details in today's newsletter: www.climatecoloredgoggles.com/p/electric-s...
Yeah, bragging about having support of mass murder Kissinger or rightwing wacko Liz Cheney makes sense though right? JFC these bed wetters are the worst and should spend a lot more time asking why so many support the DSA over who has been governing.
The vibes may be exciting, but if Democrats are going to win this year and in 2028, they must reject the DSA. If you’re tempted by a democratic socialist this year, think of what use Republicans will make of these victories, and ask whether you want to do favors for fascists.
DSA is on the upswing now because it is the one flavor of Democrats actually governing right now. It would be helpful if other flavors did too, especially if they don't want DSA to run the table.
I think a party that can welcome anti-Trump Republicans can also embrace members of the DSA. I think it should, actually
Faster response times by the Paris fire department thanks to new larger bike lanes is something cities such as Berlin, Montréal and other cities should consider as they turn back the clock on cycling. It's also something progressive cities should think about when building out.
The Paris fire service report 2025 shows time to arrival at a call out has decreased since the major roll out of protected cycle lanes in Paris (from 7m23s in 2019 to 6m15s in 2025). Increasing safety for cyclists and discouraging cars from the city center has shortened emergency response times.

Gates Foundation continued to meet with Epstein after he (Epstein) pleaded guilty to solicitation of a minor. It's no wonder Gates shows up for every Trump event with TechBros. Can't believe anyone thinks we should let this guy decide anything about our future. apnews.com/article/bill...

An external review of the Gates Foundation's ties to Jeffrey Epstein has found that staff met more than two dozen times with the disgraced financier.

Can't stop laughing tonight watching the douane (French customs ship) slowly move back and forth just beyond where the megayachts are anchored. It's like a shark stalking its prey.
Having spent a lifetime in the tech world I'm familiar with this bullshit, but I don't think others appreciate just how much these guys dish out meaningless bullshit every day. They know it's bullshit, investors know it's bullshit but they keep going with more bullshit to create bullshit mountain.

LOL the TechBros are already running out of cash with little hope left of anything other than a fire sale or government bailout and now cheap/free AI tools from China ready to deliver the death blow. I hope they don't order too many private jets and yachts too early.
