Today was the 60th warm day at or above 25C at LHR. 2nd place in series from 1949 so 2026 is now only 2 days from record year 2018. Max temperatures largely look above this threshold for the next fortnight, 2026 clearly will end up well beyond historical precedent.

This is pure extraction of wealth from one group of people to another We urgently need: Windfall tax on oil giants Windfall tax on banks Both are creaming money off us during a cost of living crisis Even Thatcher had the balls to tax the banks Will you @andyburnham?
Crop yields down, our countryside scorched and over 2800 people are dead due to this summer's heatwaves. Meanwhile fossil fuel giants are raking in record profits. We must end this rampant profiteering, and cut fossil fuels from our energy mix as soon as possible.

I recall we had a period of time where the response of Starmer and Cooper to concerns about these groups was ‘I like flags’
Leaders of flag-raising group Raise the Colours Oxfordshire placed trackers on highway workers’ cars to find out their home addresses, the High Court has heard. RTC then attempted to intimidate the highway staff into no longer removing flags by repeating their addresses to them.
I wonder whether threats were made in Cromer, Norfolk. (Photos taken about 10 days ago.)

This would be rare here - a sign of the depth of the drought. Rabbits normally have no need to drink water - they are surrounded by pastures & hedgerows filled with green grass & juicy vegetation. Now the fields are scorched brown and dry - birds & animals & insects face dehydration. #Droughts
To secure his seat on a burial club board in exactly 1 CE, Nepos paid for the ossuary's new mosaic floor out of his own pocket. It is a masterful display of status: funding local infrastructure so your peers literally walk all over your name in perpetuity. #EpigraphyTuesday #AncientBluesky 🏺
I reckon this is fine. It's just summer, right? Look it up!

The most terrifying enshittification I've discovered has been learning that Microsoft Word documents no longer auto-save if you are not saving them to one of their own proprietary cloud services. I'm slapping control-S like it's 1999.

Absolutely crackers, extremely self serving as a defence as there is absolutely no chance she'd extend this same benefit of the doubt elsewhere, which becomes obvious in the, factually incorrect, statement on early release she can't resist tagging on at the end.

Bees struggle in this weather 🥵 We find a lot of bees running out of fuel when perched on our sunflowers Use a water bottle & fine spray the flowers, fruit, seeds (what ever stage they are at) close to the bee, & they will hoover them up & regain strength
