I think a good way to think about the current moment is understanding white supremacy as a spectrum with passive acceptance as the status quo out to actively arguing for global genocide.

B.C.'ers make sure to pack a grab & go bag for everyone in your family in case of wildfires & pack N95s in that bag because the indoor air in shelters will come with viruses
Friends, a new piece for Crikey - on how Google Earth being crammed with AI slop is the perfect distillation of a company obsessed with doing exactly the wrong thing as fast as possible, in every way imaginable, for as long as they can get away with it www.crikey.com.au/2026/08/04/g...
Joy isn't always in denial of the evils of the world, but sometimes in defiance of them.
There Is Beauty Everywhere. Even In Dystopia. Even In Armageddon. One point I will always adamantly insist on is that it’s entirely possible to live a joyful and exuberant life in the midst of this abusive dystopia. www.caitlinjohnst.one/p/there-is-b...
The real word for this is democracy. If you're not criticizing your politicians, you don't care about democracy.
We have a term for someone who prefers criticizing their current government over what the alternative could have been..... dumb.
"it looks like you're using an adblocker to visit our site." yep! ha ha! it rocks!
Apparently young people doing skilled trades means that the education system is "designed primarily to produce efficient workers." This is why America has no political left.
In a college sociology class in the late 1980s I was assigned a Marxist analysis of education that argued that the US education system is designed primarily to produce efficient workers for the labor market. And now Trump’s Department of Education is just tweeting it out.
I love it 😂 funny drawing by Bjorn Swendson (not on bsky)
One great thing about BlueSky is community moderation.
This is one of the things that really grinds my gears about Silicon Valley's collective ego. They act like software is more important than physical engineering disciplines, when in reality, the opposite is true.
The biggest technological revolution of our lifetime and it has nothing to do with AI, crypto, metaverse, robots or any of the other massively hyped "tech" the media always talks about instead
It's giving me a hell of a headache to see the number of people acting like a liberal bubble is any different, or better, than the conservative bubble over on twitter. Let alone this site's widespread banning of any Palestinian who dares to talk about what they're going through.
Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
I want nothing less than centuries of study regarding the Rise and Fall of The American Empire. Entire fields of study. Entire lives dedicated to the subject. Specialists in America study.
And hopefully will be remembered for centuries to come.
I swear, the only reason people have this mind blowingly inaccurate view of democratic socialism is because of American groups like the DSA.
I feel like we've inadvertently discovered the source of the Canada Goose.
I've got a couple of mutuals with this psychopath. Please, give some thought to who you follow.
Long covid is a disputed subject, at best.
@mark-carney.bsky.social what the fuck?!?!?!
So, I find it pretty problematic that the Canada Revenue Agency is recording conversations btwn citizens & agents for the purpose of training their AI. A recorded message informs you of this prior to speaking to an agent and there is no opting out. You have to give your SIN, DOB, address etc. 🤯☠️
Yesterday marked James Baldwin’s birthday and the beginning of Black August. In his honor, we remember his enduring words: “I am anti-Zionist. I don’t believe [Zionists] have the right, after 3,000 years, to reclaim the land with western bombs and guns.”
This newspaper article has to be about Americans. No one else could possibly think that it's a good idea to give yourself explosive diarrhea in the interest of being thin.
Absolutely cursed headline: "Trending Cyclospora Diet Carries Risks For People Who Are Chasing Skinny, Doctor Warns" "Trending Cyclospora Diet..." "People Who Are Chasing Skinny..." 🤢
Mark Carnage serves the 1%, not the people.
Mark Carney has: -scrapped consumer carbon tax -scrapped oil/gas emissions cap -cut $1.3B from environment Canada -weakened industrial carbon pricing -axed 2 billion trees program -approved 1M barrels/day pipeline -weakened greenwashing laws While this is happening:
Kimball Cho: If dark forces did exist, stands to reason there could be people who control them for their own ends. Patrick Jane: They're called investment bankers, and they don't live around here. The Mentalist has to be one of the best shows of all time.
It’s super unserious to live to witness our pre-apocalyptic hellworld that went from being a boundless source of infinite sustenance to having a crumbling ecosystem only since the 3rd Industrial Revolution & fix your mouth to say that it is the socialists that are going to kill us all.
Saying you can support Israel without being a racist is like saying you could support the transatlantic slave trade without being a racist.
@mark-carney.bsky.social, the EU is taking a great step in putting people's rights before corporate interests. Time for you to follow suit.
The EU is about to ban 'video glasses' because they break invasion of privacy laws. The UK needs to ban them too.
