“Lettering is supposed to be invisible” is a little simplistic. If the letterer is doing their job w/ skill, and in harmony w/ the art, it elevates the comic even though you might not register HOW. Bad lettering is more noticeable because it drags the art & writing down with it.

Reminder - Webcomics mostly survive off word of mouth. If you enjoy something then talk about it or recommend it to people. I know we're in an age where rage drives clicks so maybe try to help a creator out by talking about their work.

I'm not the first to say this, but supporting someone's comic career doesn't require money. It can be as simple as giving them a compliment, cheering them on, boosting work that you like or sharing when they're looking for more work. These things are appreciated and make a huge difference.

It's my birthday today! 🎉The most awesome gift you can give me is to check out my webcomic Sombulus, which is about magic people trying to unravel the epic mysteries of the gods, and... ...this dynamic. Whatever this dynamic is. sombulus.com

Astyr, Rana, and Sydney from the webcomic Sombulus. Rana sits at a workbench with many assorted objects on it (toaster, etch-a-sketch, screwdiver, coffee cup, snorkel, treea pet, tablet, compass). Astyr leans on her shoulder jovially, while Sydney shoves him away with an exasperated expression.

If you'd like to help the indie community, support the people over at Comic Fury, Spider Forest, Comic Rocket, Webcomic Library, Webcomic Travelogue, Comix Cleric- and many more. Check out those places for webcomic resources and to keep things creator owned. That was the whole point of webcomics.

Broken by @yubria.bsky.social - A faerie general and the psychic zombie with PTSD he accidentally adopts are trying to navigate a world of eldritch and dystopian government horrors. So many gorgeous animations and creepy designs! 🧚‍♂️ Read it at broken.spiderforest.com

RE: Hiveworks stuff, it's become really clear is how much of the toxicity of the leadership came from seeing fellow artists as competition and threats rather than comrades who lift each other up. The world is big enough for all of us. I hope we can work together and fight our real enemy (fascists)

The dapper Bugs Bunny meme, with the text, "I wish all WEBCOMIC ARTISTS a very pleasant I'M NOT INTERESTED IN COMPETING WITH ANYONE. I HOPE WE ALL MAKE IT."
