FWIW, both of VDARE’s founders were on the masthead of the National Review in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Peter Brimelow was also a staffer for Senator Orrin Hatch. This white nationalist thread has been present in the conservative movement for a long time. Screenshot is from 1997.

The problem is that as we're seeing with the Strait of Hormuz, "the USA forfeits its global ambitions" does not lead to a new age of peace and sunshine, but to global recession and instability. The Strait of Hormuz is not the only load-bearing instance of US power backstopping modern economies.

My read on the situation is that Rubio has prioritized his pet projects in Latin America above all else. And to this end, he seeks to preserve his position and avoid Trump's ire by being hands off on the substance of much of US foreign policy and by not seeking to impose any policy process on Trump.

Look for others who are struggling: think, how can you help them? Be aware of your privileges, unlearn your biases, and use your voice to uplift the most marginalised. Love, uplift and protect trans people of global majority, disabled trans people, and everyone with intersecting identities. Be there for trans kids. Show them that they will live a happy life as themselves, and help them through a hostile school system. You are not powerless and your voice will always matter. Speak out for our rights, and for the rights of all other oppressed communities and peoples. We are not the first to go through this darkness, and we will not be the last. Look to our history and dream of potential futures. In every way you can and that is safe for you to do so, live your life and resist this ‘guidance’. We will survive and thrive through this, as long as we are there for each other. This is not the end of our story. Our bodies are change incarnate, and we have always carved beauty out of oppression.
