Over the last ~10 million years, climate has cooled, and deserts have expanded. Did more deserts make more dust, which drove more productivity, which took more CO2 and drove the cooling? Ah... it's never that simple. 🧪 agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/... (w/ @antacl.bsky.social)

Particulate carbon export at 100m depth (g/m2/day) and averaged over a year in different experiments with different amounts of dust (iron, Phosphorus, and silicon input). Four experiments (marked Mio420) ran at 420 ppm CO2 (a little bit less then we have right now) and two others at 300 ppm (Mio300) and 500 ppm (Mio500).
