Excited to set sail on the big blue ship (#RVInvestigator) today after years of planning this voyage with the traditional owners Darumbal and neighbours Woppaburra to study the submerged landscapes and the oceanography of their sea country. Nice send off - a smoking ceremony by tribal experiences.

25 tonnes of nurdles, more than 1 billion nurdles, were spilled into the Tyne last week and are washing up on our beaches, north and south of the Tyne. Likely one of the largest ever plastic pollution events in the UK. There is remarkably little mention of this on here.

The ARC has released their new set of grant schemes ▶️ www.arc.gov.au/news-and-pub... Before implementing them, they’re now going to “consult with the sector”. Hopefully genuinely, not just with a few disengaged DVCRs. In the meantime, there’ll be another round of Discovery Projects (DP28).
