Got into office. Decided that today was a 'coffee before 10am' day. Made mug of coffee. Sat back at desk. Left mug of coffee by kettle. Didn't notice for 5 minutes. How's your Wednesday started? (I mean, at least I proved myself right about the needing coffee sooner rather than later part ...)

It's back. Southwark Cathedral has announced the return of its Summer Organ Festival. Starting tonight (3rd August) it runs on every Monday until 31st August celebrating the rich tradition and versatility of the Cathedral’s renowned T.C. Lewis organ. Enjoy ⤵️ https://ow.ly/a1Sf50ZuLAX

In 1926, none of my grandparents had reached the age of 10. My great-grandmothers, therefore, were probably domestic servants, housewives, or working in the Stoke potbanks. My great-grandfathers were similarly either in the potteries, or in coalmining in Stoke or south Wales (as far as I know).

So in 1926 my dad’s dad probably was already working for a coal merchant probably still in a relatively junior role (he was born 1904) and my dad’s mum was a housewife. My mum’s dad was still a teenager at the time but he later became a GP. Mum’s mum was a housewife too. And she died in 1951.

Okay weird Anglican Bluesky, if I were to commission an icon, who should I approach? This is pretty hypothetical so far, but do send me links to your favourite independent Christian artists... ✝️⚓

Not disagreeing with the harm which Calvinism (and adjacent thinking) can cause, BUT - I've long thought that both Total Depravity and Irresistible Grace would be fantastic drag names (the other parts of TULIP, not so much, sadly ...). If anyone wants to take this up, I won't charge commission 😆!

Calvinism is Christianity’s glitter. It gets EVERYWHERE, it doesn’t wash off, you can move houses three times and you will still find it, and it’s just a pollutant making messes.

I don't know why it's only just occurred to me (possibly because UK politics has got enough going on at the minute, so US politics has to take its turn), but has anyone considered that Mitch McConnell could just be cosplaying as Hotblack Desiato, and taking it *really* seriously? Or, I guess, not.

revealing that at the start of the rumors of McConnell's hospitalization, federal agency sources were saying he was gone. McConnell's office produced a photo last weekend as proof of life after the governor requested it amid rampant conspiracy theories on social media.
