Pharmacist championing better and safer care for older people taking multiple medicines. Wiganer -now down south.

#PharmSky UK pharmacists pls consider taking part in this survey on #AdvancedPractice You'd be supporting my MPharm4 students and increasing understanding of an important topic. Could opinion leaders like @pharmrj.pharmsky.app @hpillminster.pharmsky.app and @pharmacistdaz.uk help spread the word?

Happy #AdvancingPractice2025 week. 🧵1/5 It's the perfect time to launch the survey by my MPharm4 project students. They're investigating factors that help and hinder pharmacists to achieve #AdvancedPractice recognition. Read more in this thread or go straight to the survey: tinyurl.com/572cwhya

A stylised cartoon of a mountain peak, topped with a green flag that says 'Advanced'. There are four figures climbing the mountain with thought bubbles which read: So many routes; I need clearer guidance; I need more support. There is one figure at the top of the mountain by the flag. Their thought bubble reads: I could explain my journey.

Today is International #SafeAbortion Day. Access to safe abortion protects the health of women and girls. As with all other health services, women and girls should be able to access safe and respectful abortion care, when they need it, without fear of harm, punishment or recrimination.

Abortion is healthcare. Abortion should be regulated like other health services so that women and girls can access safe, timely and respectful care.

The @healthinnovnetwork.bsky.social has published a new report sharing insights on improving access to Structured Medication Reviews for patients in seldom-heard communities, particularly in areas of high deprivation & from ethnic minority groups. healthinnovationwessex.org.uk/projects/656...

Nearly half reported changes in approach to shared decision-making with patients about stopping medications & many felt more confident raising concerns & engaging in MDT discussions. The evaluation found the Polypharmacy ALSF Course was highly recommended by all post-course survey participants 3/3

The evaluation assessed the course’s impact on participants, organisational processes and broader healthcare outcomes and found that the Polypharmacy Action Learning Set Foundation course significantly boosted participants' confidence in managing problematic polypharmacy. 2/3

My first day at the clinical entrepreneurs programme Big Pitch and listening to some of the incredible innovations I’m struck that we are all here just trying to make things better for patients, where we saw things could be done better, faster, smarter and in a more patient centred or caring way. 😊

This course has been adapted from the Polypharmacy Action Learning Sets for those involved in managing frailty and Polypharmacy in primary care who aren’t prescribers. A work in progress but great to see this evaluation published 😊@stevechemist.bsky.social
