Jean Ferré, a young Andre the Giant, wins his first ever title - the French Heavyweight Championship - from Franz van Buyten, 1968! 🤼 Those uppercuts 😬 and the belt not fitting round Andre's waist lmao.

I watch old movies and play old video games for fun. I make overly-expensive applications talk to one another for money. My vibes-based metaphysics > your vibes-based metaphysics. Manage the #okwx list.
Made my #hooptober list for this year. We'll see how far I get this time. docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

Please go vote in Oklahoma today. There is a ballot measure that lets the legislature defund schools and libraries. Gotta kill it.
As threatened, I am rating a bunch of consoles and computers based on using their game libraries in a chronology project. The ratings system is the most simple and obvious one: all platforms are given a rating on the Mario scale where they are scored with a Mario game. Got it? Here we go.
I’ll keep buying these volumes as long as you keep making them.
Full look at the cover of the forthcoming 3rd volume of the CRYPTID CINEMA™ book series; cover & back cover art by the great Jolyon Yates, concocted from enhanced/collaged elements of my own artwork, interior book design by Tim Paxton, with factual/tex contributions from Tim, Jolyon, & others.
I have now beaten Getsu Fūma Den, one of the best Konami games to never get a US port. Game is pretty metal. Ends with the demon lord's skull base getting blown up by a bolt of purifying lighting while the credits roll.
The third quarter of 1987 is the last time that the 8-bit consoles rule the world without any 16-bit competition. It isn't the strongest quarter for games. We'll get a few important titles, and Konami is the standout with some real bangers, but we'll also see a lot of ports over from the FDS.
Imagine that. Literally two days after @nytimes.com does a front page story about the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln having terrible conditions and drastically overstaying it's deployment it starts to head home. www.nytimes.com/live/2026/08...

As a parent of a senior in high school, I really hope this upcoming recession gets over with before my kid graduates college and enters the job market.
There are some steps in their about handcuffing the global trade economy in a way that was supposed to offset the tax cuts but didn't, but yes, all of those did happen. The current treasury situation is entirely of the making of the Trump administration and Congress. This was entirely avoidable.
Step 1: Donald Trump made Elon Musk an SGE which he used to cut important govt programs and reverse regulation on himself. Step 2: None of that saved any real money. Step 3: The GOP gave Elon a huge tax cut and cut your healthcare. Step 4: The US' debt has skyrocketed.
I don't expect either of these guys to have any trouble getting through the confirmation process. Neither is particularly controversial in ways that would prevent a nomination from getting through, even with opposition to one of them from the tribes (which isn't guaranteed but I'd expect).

Analysts Warn U.S. Economy Becoming Overly Dependent On Anne Hathaway
@retronauts.bsky.social Have you guys ever talked to anyone or seen interviews about the decision to release Enduro Racer in the US/EU with a smaller cart than the Japanese version?
This person is on Blue Sky and I kind of hate that she’s becoming a main character. I’m sure it is good for her career that she got something published in the NYTimes, but it may not be worth the hassle I bet she gets.
lol come the fuck on
If it's not rising then why is my social media feed filled with examples that I click on instantly
Blue Sky picked the worst possible time, Sunday in the middle of the day, to have an outage. Good luck getting the right engineers on the phone.
We're going to kick off the second quarter of 1987 on April 1 with Rush'n Attack by Konami on the Famicom. Konami has definitely moved into their status post-Castlevania, post-Gradius as the best third party publisher on the Famicom. Rush'n Attack continues that trend with fast-paced action.
I was literally about to block this person until I realized it was disc horse.
im ngl "doomsteader" is a word that reeks of subtle ableism and we should probably expunge it from our vocabularies.
Hot take. Little Women is slop that just lasted long enough to get canonized.

No, I didn't spend most of the evening playing Kid Icarus. Shut up. Don't judge me.
I think you could give Ultraman Legendary Heroes 2 a try, even though it's a mobile game.
Is it time for the Arch Manning Heisman hype, yet?
Monica Vitti had a great “I don’t give a fuck but also I’m really depressed” face.
