My daughter's therapist recommended saffron to support ADHD and so her and I both started 30mgish tea in the morning. We're on day 3 and my resting heart rate has dropped lower than it's ever been not on vacation and my heart rate variability has skyrocketed.

El-Sayed: "My commitment to Jewish safety is the same commitment that I have to the safety of my own daughters. Because if there is one question of political philosophy that ought to animate us all, it's what would we do if we treated all our kids like they were all of our kids?"

Jfc people it's not literally just about boots. It's about the ER when you can't afford copays for the minute clinic. It's about calorie dense food that's cheaper and keeps longer but also lacks nutritional density. I'm not making an argument about planned obsolescence, it's about quality of life.

Today's bsky argument about "boots theory" seems to come down, from my perspective, to 2 different ideas of what it says- (1) believe that poor people could make better choices to save themselves out of poverty (2) believe that poverty enacts worse choices, creating cycles of more instability.

With all the talk about how badly we're all messed up from Covid, seems like a good day to let people know that we're coming up on the bookiversary of Uncovering Possible, a collection of poems, essays, guides, and stories to help us get back some of the lessons we learned. vernonpress.com/book/2419

Both threads are true & historically accurate I also think it’s ok in this emergency to draw parallels to the increasingly culturally illiterate average bear wrt what they’re seeing in a way that doesn’t require extensive history lessons Yes the US has been fascist. Yes these are acting like Nazis

Perpetually linking ICE activity to mid 20th century Nazism misses over a hundred years of US immigration law based on racial exclusion AND the very real policies of US empire both domestic and abroad. The US held Haitian asylum seekers in detention camps in Cuba for years as recently as the 90s.

My Dad is such a mensch. He doesn't drive anymore so I get deputized to pick up greeting cards and gifts sometimes. Anyway, today he asked me to get an encouragement card and gift card for my brother because it's been 3 yrs since he had a little reality break and had to be hospitalized briefly.

Exactly. This is where theory is so helpful as a lens. (This is adding to not contradicting OP) So if you have a critical feminist lens, you understand that these are both the same project of marginalizing women and maintaining a binary that (white, cis, straight, wealthy) men are in charge of.

12 year old girls get genital inspections "for their safety" while wife beaters get endorsed for re-election. This whole protecting women and girls thing is a bit confusing.

This is the tragic yet logical result of a decades-long project—undertaken by rightwing politicians and “business-minded” administrators alike—to distort the meaning of higher education, to deny the intrinsic value of the pursuit of knowledge, to deprive us all of richer, more purposeful lives.

President Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/aaAEu6v

The effective federal corporate income tax rate: 1950: 50% 1990: 25% 2020: 13% Stop asking "but how we will pay for it?" Restore the corporate tax rate. That is how we will pay for it.

In case folks have missed it, the running commentary on the right is that Jews are sending Arab migrants to invade Europe. Because Islamaphobia and antisemitism are always nearby to one another. AND because so many of this hateful conspiracies rely on the antisemitic mythology of Jews as puppeteers.

Spanish far-right activist María Isabel Peralta has sparked outrage after footage circulated showing her performing a Nazi salute outside the Moroccan Embassy in Madrid.

The conspiracy theories with some of these younger folks are so out of hand. I also learned recently that a ton of people don't think Anne Frank is real and also that Helen Keller could not have actually been blind and deaf. A really huge issue is that we entertain ideas this ludicrous as discourse.

The whole Mariners' pen believes Babe Ruth didn't exist. Kinda want all MLB players to believe this and make the owners agree to it in next CBA
