I was just there, on a day trip after the SASE conference in Bordeaux. Where thousands of academics had gathered (in unbearably hot university buildings). Many (most?) had travelled there by plane. Still thinking that if we keep doing conferences at all, we need much stricter air travel rules.

So when people criticize Beijing for propping up the car industry, what they're really complaining about is the fact that Beijing implemented strategic financial and industrial policies, and the West failed to do so. 4/4

In 2026, 11 years after the Paris Agreement, the flurry of net zero pledges peak oil discourses and even in the midst of the IA boom/bubble, the best way to increase your wealth on the markets is still to put your money on fossil fuel compagnies.

In Europe, we suffocate in thermal ovens. Lack of proper rentals' regulation and private equity gobbling up housing markets organise one of the largest wealth transfers from the poorest to the richest. EU wants to solve this housing crisis. Guess how?👇

ACTUALLY IT REALLY SEEMS TO BE A WORLD RECORD of the Northernmost Minimum of 30.0C (Ok, 29.9C almost there) ever recorded worldwide. Paris🗼 just broke a WORLD RECORD.

Visibilising social reproduction in academia is great and important. We will also need at a certain point to include class and family background as part of the EDI guidelines alongside other factors. I never saw one job position doing it.

Join us for the @epssnet.bsky.social First Gen Meeting on Saturday 20 June. Here is the poster that @carogarriga.bsky.social and I will talk about (no worries, we'll be quick!), based on a roundtable on First Gens in political science a couple of years ago.

@benbraun.eurosky.social asked me to share my latest rant on chatbot's use in academic writing. Here it is. The main message is: using chatbots to write your paper is bad practice, making us loose much time for nothing and exposes you to reputational risk. Journals must adapt policies accordingly

The ECB just rose its interest rates, against Ormuz's related inflationnary pressures. No alternative was discussed. Inflationnary pressures come from our fossil fuel dependence. Rising IR kills the EU renewable energy industry. Why excempting renewables from rising IR wasn't discussed? Why?
