I’ve long thought Rachel Banham is the only Chicago pro athlete who could theoretically be my friend. This was her tunnel fit tonight.

PCA should be NL MVP this year. It's his breakout year hitting and his defense is world class. Ohtani is having a bit of a down year hitting and pitching (and I think we're close to the end of him as a regular starting pitcher).
Pete Crow-Armstrong just passed Shohei Ohtani in homers. Could someone finally wrestle the NL MVP away? Is a half season of pitching worth more than PCA's full year of defense? I don’t know. either way, it's going to be a tight race for NL MVP, and it should be.
As of late July more than 110,000 books were waiting in branches across the city to be picked up and processed. Library workers say this is another consequence of a shortage of delivery drivers this spring. And they're still not fully staffed. ✍️Rachel Hinton blockclubchicago.org/2026/08/05/t...
Thousands Of Books Are Piling Up In Chicago Libraries Due To Staffing Shortage
The backlog has librarians scrambling to find space and keep track of books in the system. Library workers say it's a ripple effect of a delivery driver shortage — and patrons have started checking ou...

me: the simpsons have four fingers on each hand so you’d think they’d live in a base 8 society but as far as I can tell there’s no evidence of that in the show my wife: *screaming during labor* the obgyn: hold on i want to hear more about this
The nice thing about baseball is there's 162 games. Go get 'em tomorrow.
gambling company says a baseball team ruined baseball. crazy world we live in
A sign is flying overhead at Wrigley Field. Looks like it’s supposed to say: “The Dodgers ruined baseball.”
If the #wpbl gets a Chicago team, they probably won't resurrect the "Chicago Colleens" name from the AAGPBL in the 40s, but it'd really harken to the Irish history of the city! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago...

Yeah, its on the website now. Here is your WNBA Cleveland logo for the Cleveland Sirens.
This is why I'm glad Chicago ultimately didn't host World Cup games this year (after being frustrated by the fact several years ago). There was no monetary gain to come from it. It's paying for the privilege of being a host.
U.S. cities chasing FIFA over millions of dollars owed after hosting World Cup games www.nytimes.com/athletic/749... #FIFA under #GianniInfantino is comical and embarrassing 😳
Unfortunately Joey Bart is freakin' Mike Piazza at the plate compared to Quero and Romo right now
White Sox are acquiring catcher Joey Bart from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for the recently DFA’d Duncan Davitt. Jeff Passan first reported the Sox getting Bart.
People being able to afford a place to live is far far far more important than how a building looks. It's a privileged position to hold up housing because you happen to not like how it looks on first glance.
If you reduce the barriers to entry for building, more local, small developers would invest in architecture for personal, subjective reasons and there would be fewer mediocre hot takes on design. www.sfchronicle.com/opinion/open...
The WNBA has never had a trans woman play in the league’s 30-year history and now the right and other anti-trans activists are hammering the league over something that has never been an issue, proving once again it isn’t about protection but exhibiting cruelty toward trans people.
Baltimore too. Segregation distorts markets. Supply & demand cant work when the majority population will not consider parts of the market. Btw, just because real estate is no longer separately advertised as “white housing” or “Negro housing” as it was until 1968, doesnt mean segregation ever ended.
Because of Chicago's extreme segregation, the city has two distinct housing markets. One has extremely expensive housing and the other cheap housing.

Chicago homebuyers and real estate agents said there’s bidding wars for the few homes hitting the market, especially in neighborhoods like Lake View, Lincoln Park and Northalsted.
"Hey. Don't be mad at the Detroit Tigers. They had their price, just like every single one of your teams has their price. Everyone has their price for... the Los Angeles Dodgers"
BREAKING: The Los Angeles Dodgers are finalizing a trade for Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal, sources tell ESPN.
Milwaukee has it right with the Summerfest land. Tearing up the grass in multiple parks every year just isn't the way. Once the Bears leave, the city should hollow out Soldier Field and make it a permanent festival ground for Lolla and Riot Fest. The parks have run their course.
Yikes
She's fast-tracking to her post-playing career right-wing media jobs. She's going to have a gig at O*****k in a year or two. Definitely a standing spot at Fox News.
Speaking for the first time since ralliers began assembling in support of her stance against transgender participation in women’s sports, Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham said this was an opportunity for the WNBA to uphold its values of diversity and inclusion. nyti.ms/4fHr4Qn
Until he proves otherwise, Max Clark is Temu PCA
"Get on first base and make people mad" 😤 Tigers top prospect Max Clark models his game after guys like PCA!
It's nice that Chicago is so big that an event like Lolla can exist and vast areas of the city aren't exposed to it in the least. Honestly, outside of downtown and a couple spots along the Red and Blue Lines on the North side, Lolla doesn't exist in the city this weekend.

I've been surprised how much better Tidal's app experience has been than Apple Music. Even with it not natively connecting to the Google eco-system as easily as Apple Music, it's just easier to use, and has a better song algorithm.
What is the difference between a pitchers duel and simply crap hitting by two teams?
I don't think you should get to challenge the call at 1st and 2nd on the same play.
It's so nice for the White Sox to have hope in a Right Fielder again.
"So corrupt that even Sepp Blatter thinks that you have gone too far" is quite the achievement. The FIFA version of astral projection.
Ja Rule playing after the White Sox's African American Heritage Night feels racist, not gonna lie.
30+ years of watching poor clock management, dumb timeouts, and ill-advice challenges in football have not prepared me for some bizarre ABS challenges in MLB this season. You challenge this 2-2 pitch with zero outs in the 2nd inning of a 0-0 game?! You thought this was a ball? What are we doing?
