My heart goes out to this young lady. Every Black woman knows what this feels like-to be surrounded by those who wish you harm+ no guarantee of societal defense- your spine stiffens as you become hyperalert- a horrid feeling, esp if you're physically smaller. Honestly, partly why I started muay thai
Would love to also see this by race, and the intersectional effects for women by race. So many Black women in the tech and artificial intelligence (AI) space that do not get their due.

Also, "one nation under God" was coined in the post-WWII era and only added to the pledge in 1954. It's younger than Donald Trump. Somebody wrote a book about this.

Writing my section of the acknowledgments for New Directions in African American Political Psychology (forthcoming with the University of Michigan Press), and there are so many folks to thank. I'm a co-editor of a volume. Wow.
In the aftermath of the 2024 election, Black men were blamed for Democratic losses, yet the data show a different picture. While Black vote for the Democratic party at lower rates than Black women, their support remains higher than that of Latino, Asian, and white voters across gender.

In the paper, we analyze survey data and content analysis of podcasts that are a part of the Manosphere. Our measure of Black patriarchy captures hostile sexism, bootstrap ideology, and resistance to intersectional solidarity.

The United States has gone back, as far as Reconstruction. What was left of the Voting Rights Act -- which made the United States the closest its ever been to a democracy -- is weak. States can rig the rules and suppress Black voters now, more than ever before.
The Voting Rights Act is essentially dead and it’s quite possible that we will, like when a similar SCOTUS gutted civil rights at the fall of Reconstruction, see a disappearance of much of the Black congressional representation, especially in the most heavily Black states, which are in the South.
