I was just reading up on scene separators. An asterisk/bullet point is a dinkus, a floral one is a fleuron, and any other fancy one is a dingbat (1920s slang for a whatchamacallit). The Langdon Home for Malevolent Livestock collection will use tiny animals that change base on who's in the story!

Why you should use a PHYSICAL scene separator (e.g. asterisks) in your books instead of an empty space: 1) Some ereader / app somewhere may simply not show the empty space. 2) Some people read on devices with the text REALLY BIG. Your chance of the empty space being at the end of the screen is...

The way indie music is seen as 'cool' and indie films are seen as 'embracing the craft without selling out' while indie books are seen as 'didn't get trad published' gives me feelings. Really crunchy feelings. The snobbery makes zero sense and instantly tells me someone isn't worth listening to.
