I like more and more things the older I get! Different genres of music, movies, books. Different tropes, styles, tones. One day, I will complete my transformation into an art raccoon, taking all things into my tiny greedy hands with untempered joy

Horror writer and novella enthusiast! Music, movies, and plants are also great. (She/they)
I was just reading up on scene separators. An asterisk/bullet point is a dinkus, a floral one is a fleuron, and any other fancy one is a dingbat (1920s slang for a whatchamacallit). The Langdon Home for Malevolent Livestock collection will use tiny animals that change base on who's in the story!
Why you should use a PHYSICAL scene separator (e.g. asterisks) in your books instead of an empty space: 1) Some ereader / app somewhere may simply not show the empty space. 2) Some people read on devices with the text REALLY BIG. Your chance of the empty space being at the end of the screen is...
Reminded again that my last words are likely to be a series of increasingly urgent dudes.
In an ongoing effort to share the specific joys of late 90s/early 2000s horror with my partner, we watched Disturbing Behavior today. I'll be singing Flagpole Sitta for the next two to three weeks if you need me
I was so excited when I saw that Stephen Root was in Widow's Bay, and let me tell, I wasn't excited enough. What a treasure
"But to truly have the freedom to make the art we want, we also have to free our minds! We have to detach from any boring, false beliefs in a fair meritocratic hierarchy." HECK YES
In this episode of Dear Ivy, I was asked a great question by @coffinesque.bsky.social: "I pine for some of the indie music fandom in indie publishing...Do you think there’s anything writers can be doing to foster that feeling in the reading community?"
I saw the teeniest tiniest frog today. Smaller than you're thinking. No, smaller, I'm telling you. And it leapt like a champion
Very much want to write, but my head is empty empty. The spirit is willing but the brain is dead
Hi. Everything I want to say it at the following link, which contains why I think Patrick Barb should not be HWA President. I'm going to step away from socials for a few hours now, and will see you all later. 🫀 CW: sexual misconduct. theodorehill.weebly.com/statement.html

Plotting a picnic and crafts hangout with some pals where we all make DIY witch brooms. Get OVER here, fall
Dreamt Superman was on his way to save someone who knew Clark Kent, so he called ahead first to say, "Okay so I've changed my face, but not, like, a lot. So maybe just pretend you don't recognize me."
"I'll play a fun word game to relax," I tell myself with breathtaking disregard for the 98% of the time I reach cortisol levels normally reserved for bank heist hostages while rearranging consonants
Today I have been comparing the scenes in the three live-action Spider-Man franchises where Peter Parker's love interest learns his secret identity as if this were my job, my calling, my solemn duty to perform
Just adoring Widow's Bay. That whole cast is a treasure

When I used to imagine the future, I was wholely unprepared for how often my conversations would start with, "So I don't know if this was real or not,"
Been on a Modest Mouse kick lately. Building Nothing Out Of Something especially is just really hitting right now
