A gracious concession: “I want to congratulate Abdul El-Sayed on winning the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. He is a doctor, a community health official, a Rhodes Scholar, and a dedicated Michigander. I am proud to offer my support as he takes on Mike Rogers in the general election…

my most childish political opinion is that I still think Obama reads all the books and listens to the songs. I know everyone sells out but he strikes me as a man who would never ever let a staffer frame his Taste to the public and also I suppose I just want to believe it

someone put my roommate on the Haley Stevens email list (hilarious prank tbh) (but not to do to me) and just sent our group text a screenshot of the most recent email, which is literally written entirely from the point of view of Haley’s dog

It is in fact racist to call an Arab with views you disagree with an antisemite. I know this will be a surprise to many but unless that person is actually saying something antisemitic, the Arab is not genetically predisposed to antisemitism

little infuriates me quite like white women leaning into racist narratives to avoid accountability and wow has Haley Stevens made sure I stay in a constant state of bubbling rage this summer. the fact she continues to think this will work tells me we need to go a lot harder in calling this shit out!

want to be clear there are absolutely big differences b/t Dems & GOP, don’t ascribe to all-the-same, and that said, it’s awfully telling how many high profile Dems now profess to prefer a Republican in office than a progressive and how that appears to be driven by who is closer to their values

have seen/gotten a decent number of “everyone I know hates the Mayor” from progressives who look like me and with respect it has v much made me think of the below. I think white progressives should perhaps be sitting with that a bit more than many seem to be

Vincent Bevins post: I once had a conversation in a London pub with a professor at Oxford University. “I think Marxism can only be interpreted as youthful rebellion against one’s parents,” he said. “All the Marxists I know have rich parents.”

This was confusing to me, as I have spent a lot of time in Latin America. Like it or not, Marxism has played and continues to play a major role in working-class organizing in Latin America. There is the inconvenient fact that the current state in China, like it or not, was created by a Marxist-Leninist people’s war, and so on. But then I figured it out.

“Ok, you don’t know any Marxists without rich parents,” I said. “Do you know any people without rich parents?”

I'm sorry but come on y'all. Basically every advocate for every issue I know is disappointed in Johnson. Like did we forget about this and other issues? He's not trying to run the city well and being stopped by council, he's causing plenty of problems all on his own

Overnight this Omni ICE removal trip refueled in Anchorage and is now likely headed to its second refueling stop in Guam. It’ll be another 10 hours at least before it makes its first removal stop. The people onboard have been shackled for at least 14 hours so far.

An FR24 map showing Omni’s N846AX heading southwest over the Pacific Ocean towards Guam.

People who are suddenly deported to countries they haven’t been to for years — or, in some cases, have NEVER been to — are incredibly vulnerable. We are going to be reading stories like this for years. God have mercy on their three little girls.

“If immigration hadn't picked up my brother, my sister-in-law would still be alive, and the children wouldn't be going through this sorrow,” he said. “Unfortunately, immigration — the [U.S.] government — doesn't see that. It makes no difference to them.” www.stlpr.org/law-order/20...
