Speaking of Steve Ditko… Look how good his Etrigan the Demon is in Detective 485. Those big meaty yellow hands are perfect for throttling bad guys or tossing off a spell.
Bronze Tiger was the reason I had this issue of Detective Comics on my wishlist. I’m a fan of the Richard Dragon Kung-Fu Fighter run, and this is a follow up from that for Ben Turner. That series even gets a shout out at the bottom of the second page here in the caption box.
Now reading Detective #485 Blue Blazes! Always interesting to read these older stories where Batman wasn’t ranked quite so high with the greatest hand-to-hand fighters ever, as Bronze Tiger takes him out easily. But also, bit of a shocker to see Kathy Kane (Batwoman) dies from this attack!

Today’s haul! Four old(er) comics and a hardcover Darwyn Cook-Tim Sale Superman collection. Plus check out the 💕Dick&Babs💕 back cover image by Dick Giordano from Detective 485!

Dang it Second week in a row I’ve forgotten to pack comics to read while traveling. Yes, I’ve got a subscription to the MU app, but it’s not the same. I like paper.

#EventsDearBoy 13. ANNIHILATION (2006, Marvel) "It is critical you pay attention at this time": the event as glow-up, a surprisingly rare move given how successful this was at rejuvenating a neglected part of Marvel (and starting the domino chain leading to a multi-billion dollar film IP)
#EventsDearBoy 14. THE HELLFIRE GALA (2021, Marvel) The highest placed Krakoa era event not because it's necessarily the best but because it's the *most* Krakoa-ish: what could sum up this biggest of in-continuity swings better than a fashion-forward event based on a party not a battle?
